One on one PT
Do I need to be at a certain fitness level to start PT with Shieldsport?
NO, if you look at the different program options, there is a maintenance style program. This would be for individuals that have reached a required fitness level, and wish to stay there.
Can I train with my girlfriend or partner?
YES, a training partner is a great way to train. Not only does it give you extra motivation, and a little competitive essence, it allows us to facilitate unique partner assisted exercises.
How long will it take before I start to see results?
If you adhere to the program specifics, and follow our guide for dietary advice, you should see changes after the 4week, 8week, and 12week periods. Following this time new goals and outcomes should be set.
Can I do all of my PT sessions in the studio, and out of the public eye?
YES, if you aren’t ready to train outdoors, or simply prefer the comforts of the studio we can make arrangements to train inside throughout the entirety of the program.
I have a couple of young children, Is it ok for them to wait whilst I train?
If the training is taking place in the Shieldsport studio, there is no problem with them waiting whilst you are training, keeping in mind that we do not provide care, or minding for the children. Outdoors or indoors, it is really up to your own discretion.
Corporate and Team training
My company is based in the city, are you willing to travel to our office?
YES, Shieldsport does travel Sydney wide. However, if the sessions are sporadic as opposed to monthly packages there will be a travel fee charged.
Can both men and women combine in a corporate group session?
YES, if the corporate package includes group circuits these sessions are for both men and women. The nature of these circuits are aerobic, with light weights, med balls and boxing style exercises.
Will you write personal programs for each individual in our office?
YES, Depending on which Program option you take. The most comprehensive, includes personalized programs for each individual, with regular testing and evaluation.
If our company is to commit to 12 month program, does this reduce the cost?
YES, with any financial commitment greater than one month comes a reduction in overall cost. Depending on the program option, and the number of participants enrolled in the corporate package, we offer a negotiable rate.
We enter the City to Surf each year as a company; can you train us specifically for the race?
YES, we excel at sport and event specific training. If it’s the City to Surf you are participating in, we have the experience and results to guide you and your colleagues to a successful outcome.
Sporting teams and Groups
My daughters Netball team is looking to incorporate some cross training into their program can you help?
Most definitely. I have had plenty of Netball experience, and have used my skill acquisition experience with Netballers in the past. Group training sessions incorporating skills and cross training fitness techniques is a passion of mine.
Have you had experience with beginner level team members or just more elite athletes?
I have had experience with all levels of ability; working in the primary school system is mostly beginners, which I find rewarding and gratifying.
Would you charge an hourly rate per person with my footy team?
The Rates for group training is at an hourly rate, so it can be charged at a per person fee, or a negotiable Rate dependant on duration and commitment.
Teen Fit
What type of sports are you focusing on with your teenage groups?
The Teen Fit program is not sport specific. It is designed to incorporate all muscle groups, and cardio vascular fitness. It is educational, and sets up young adults for learning Skills regarding Weight loss and Nutrition.
Is the Teen Fit program for both boys and girls?
Yes, both Boys and Girls can participate in Teen Fit. This is also a great social experience.
How old do you have to be to participate in the Teen group exercise sessions?
The Teen Fit program is designed at High School aged people.
Sport / Event Specific
I don’t do triathlon, but I am thinking about it. Can you give me some advice on swimming?
I am not a holder of the Aust swim certificate, however I do a swim with me program either one on one, or small groups. I have held the Certificate in the past, and have extensive swim experience. More suited to low/intermediate levels.
I have run the Sydney Half Marathon twice now, I want to do a Marathon can you train me?
Yes, I have had plenty of Marathon experience, and I am more than willing to share my experiences and skills to guide you to success.
Do you do personal training for strength; I need to gain size and strength for Rugby?
Rugby strength and conditioning is something I can definitely assist you with, I have the latest in requirements, statistics, and up to date programs in the game.
I am new to cycling, and need to gain some confidence on the road, would you give me some riding lessons/sessions?
I am embarking on a new program targeting new cyclists. This prepares you for on road experience, builds confidence on the bike in traffic, hills, and clipped in shoes and pedals.
Bali Ultrafit Retreat
What do I need to bring to Bali for the Ultrafit retreat?
All you need to bring is your Road Bike or MTB depending on the group specifics. Obviously cycling apparel, swimming gear, and some casual clothing. All that is needed should fit in a bike box, with a small pack to be taken on the plane.
Am I covered by personal or Travel insurance?
If you have taken Travel insurance, which is advisable, you will be covered. Shieldsport takes no responsibility for theft, injury or other travel related issues.
I have run the City to Surf three times, am I fit enough for the Ultrafit retreat?
A specific criteria is explained on the Ultrafit retreat details. This is an endurance bases retreat, for serious endurance athletes. The City to surf, a great race that it is hasn’t got the base requirements to undertake the Bali Ultrafit.
I am worried about keeping up, is the retreat a competitive environment?
No need to worry about that! It will not be a race, or a competition. It is a training retreat, to build endurance, and develop skills and knowledge of specific disciplines and one’s self.
If I get injured, what will happen?
Unfortunately, these things do happen. We can only be as safe as possible whilst facilitating the programs, and also in terms of nutrition rest and recovery. Insurances would have to be advised in case of serious injury or accidents.
Wooli Nature Fit Camp
Is everything supplied for the Nature Fit Camp?
All that is required for the Wooli Nature Fit Camp is a sense of adventure and an open mind. Open the Nature Fit tab for all info. Appropriate clothing and toiletries are the main requirements.
Will I be camping in a tent style arrangement?
No! The lodging for the Nature Fit Camps is double or single rooms, shared space and loft style bedding. Depending on the group dynamics, and social aspect of the participants sleeping arrangements can be configured to suit.
If I get really tired, or I feel I can’t participate any further, what can I do?
Firstly, you are bound to feel tire at some point. This is just part of taking on anything challenging to the mind and or body. If the element of fun and adventure can’t get you out of bed in the morning, something must be wrong. You will not be forced to participate in anything.
Will I lose weight, and tone my body with your camp program?
The Camp sets you up with an education to be able to do so in the future. It is incorrect to think that in 5 days these outcomes could be achieved. The Nature fit Camp aims to build confidence in physical ability, embrace change in a holistic health, and kick start a new and sustainable life.
I have never ridden a bike before. So I can’t cycle, and I haven’t been in a Kayak either, will this stop me from participating in the camp?
No, this would not stop you participating in the camp, but prior to the camp dates, we could spend some time to bring your confidence level up in these disciplines. Kayaking is only an option for the camps, however cycling or Mountain biking is widely used.
